Wedding Mood: Homespun

Defining characteristic: totally lacking in pretension
Ideal setting: family backyard; local farm with historic bed-and-breakfast inn
Most expensive version would include: rented lakeside estate with guest cottages where all 80 guests could spend the weekend
You’ll make do with: clear-top tent
Colors seen: sage green, peach, periwinkle, ivory
Flowers include: peonies, birch twigs, hydrangeas
You’d wear: the Lela Rose gown above, something crocheted, or a tea-length dress, and/or a hat; he’d wear a khaki or navy suit—linen in summer
On bridesmaids: matching cotton sundresses, prints optional
Invitations: “Dotted Scallop” from Spark Stationery
Serving style: buffet
On the menu: lamb shank, tiny spring vegetables, garlic-rosemary mashed potatoes
On tables: linen tablecloths
Reception music: guitar duo, or fiddler
Cake would be: round tiers covered in buttercream with fresh flowers
Extra entertainment: a round of bocce on the lawn after the cake cutting
Favors: jam from local farm
After-party: bonfire
Honeymoon suite: rustic, antiquefilled room
Morning-after brunch: fresh biscuits, homemade granola, and yogurt with berries
On their way out the door, guests overheard saying: “That was so sweet.”

I would love to get married on a farm, in a barn. This white barn with infinite lights strung inside looks like the perfect venue.
