Wedding Mood: Homespun
Defining characteristic: totally lacking in pretension Ideal setting: family backyard; local farm with historic bed-and-breakfast inn Most expensive version would include: rented lakeside estate with guest cottages where all 80 guests could spend the weekend You’ll make do with: clear-top tent Colors seen: sage green, peach, periwinkle, ivory Flowers include: peonies, birch twigs, hydrangeas You’d wear: the Lela Rose gown above, something crocheted, or a tea-length dress, and/or a hat; he’d wear a khaki or navy suit—linen in summer On bridesmaids: matching cotton sundresses, prints optional Invitations: “Dotted Scallop” from Spark Stationery Serving style: buffet On the menu: lamb shank, tiny spring vegetables, garlic-rosemary mashed potatoes On tables: linen tablecloths Reception music: guitar duo, or fiddler Cake would be: round tiers covered in buttercream with fresh flowers Extra entertainment: a round of bocce on the lawn after the cake cutting Favors: jam from local farm After-party: bonfire Honeymoon suite: rustic, antiquefilled room Morning-after brunch: fresh biscuits, homemade granola, and yogurt with berries On their way out the door, guests overheard saying: “That was so sweet.”

I love this photograph’s focus point. As an newly-engaged, I’m supposed to get engagement photographs taken. Well, we are modest people and my fiance specifically said he doesn’t like the showy-photographs of couples force-kissing for the camera. But this, this I like, because it’s in the background, which almost makes it more romantic.
